Marino star and club record signing Sebastien Diesler retires due to injury

Marino star and cult figure, Sebastien Diesler, has shocked the football world by announcing that he is retiring from football with immediate effect due to a long-term knee injury.

The Plasticland Empire international player, joined Marino in after the club president Mr Guiney personally scouted the rising talent and shelved out a club record £3.5m to land the man.

Diesler quickly became the club’s star player and was frequently linked to big money moves back to his native Plasticland Empire. His loyalty to Marino was however never disputed as the player always maintained his desire at being a member of the side.

Marino coach John Aldridge said that the loss of Diesler is a huge blow to the club in their quest for a top 6 finish this season. “I understand why he felt he must hang up his boots but replacing him with with the transfer funds that are available will be near impossible” Aldridge said.

Whether President Guiney will sanction additional transfer funds remains to be seen. Marino’s total available funds is believed to be around £1.1m.
