Lion Lakers dumped out of Minifig Gold Cup in semi-final shocker defeat to Ludoplaymo

Lion Lakers recorded another blank in their shock collapse away to Playmobil powerhouse Ludoplaymo on Wednesday night. The Lakers, struggling in Serie A with 3 scoreless ties on the trot, failed yet again to hit the back of the net in this 3-0 thumping.

Lakers, who had won the first leg 3-1 in Legoland two weeks ago, crashed out of the prestigious tournament 3-4 on aggregate at the final whistle. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson blamed the result on player fatigue and the difficult schedule his minifigs have had in recent weeks. “Competing on all fronts has been difficult on us but we have coped well overall I think. We fell at the final hurdle but will hope to go one step further next season.”

Lakers’ fans disappointment contrasted dramatically with the scenes of joy in the capital of the Kingdom of Playmobil, home of Ludoplaymo. It was an historic night for football in Playmobil being the first time the country has had a team reach the final. The Playmobilians face a difficult showdown clash with Legoland FC’s “Galacticos” in the final on May 19th.

LFC progressed to the final in style with a 5-1 demolition of Sandland representatives, City Club Montolezia in the other semi final clash. The Cartel ensured Legoland will have a chance to retain the title with the win. The team, struggling to make the top three in the league are firm favourites to land the Gold Cup and secure the rich financial spoils. Manager Raymond Domenech however said that his side will “never underestimate Ludoplaymo” and will treat the game with “utmost seriousness”.
